A look back on the 15th Anniversary:

2013 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Internet in Alberta. The first Internet service was our dial services launched on September 13th,. 1993. Back then we were charging $40 per month AND $6 per hour for dialup services running at 14.4 Kb/s. Our very first customer was Edmonton Economic Development, which makes the EEDC the first Internet customer in Alberta. We were swamped with business back in 1993.

We held a small celebration of our 15 years anniversary at our official and invited media to attend, and everyone showed up. The pictures from below are from that event:

Graham Fletcher was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal along with 49 other Albertans at Government House yesterday; in recognition of Graham’s contributions to his community in West Edmonton, and also for contributions in the development of communications technology and infrastructure in Alberta.
