ADSL Packages

Rural ADSL

The Internet Centre's Rural DSL project was created to serve the following smaller communities in Alberta:

Warburg*

Provisioning of these services is completely independent of our other ADSL offerings, and is built on a more complex infrastructure. Rural DSL is therefore priced differently.

Notes

  1. Actual speed is dependent upon line conditions and is therefore not guaranteed.  Advertised speeds are the maximum attainable.  All new services will be provisioned using a PPPoE connection, which will require us to assign a username to you.
  2. With PPPoE connections, the address is assigned as part of the PPPoE negotiation, and the IP address is permanently linked to your login ID.
  3. Where additional IP addresses are supplied, these will be within a subnet which is routed to your primary IP address.

  • Additional email addresses are $3/mo and include Fortimail junk and virus filtering.
  • Payments can be made on monthly, 6-month or annual basis.
  • All prices listed do not include GST.
  • Suspended Email Accounts: Due to recent court decisions across Canada, it is now The Internet Centre's policy, three (3) days after suspension of a customer's account, to bounce email back to the sender where email is a service provided by The Internet Centre.
  • Reconnection Fee: It is The Internet Centre's policy to charge a reconnection fee for those accounts which have been suspended for late or no payment, payable at the time of reconnection. This fee can vary between $20 and $100 depending on the type of account, the size of the outstanding balance, and the period of nonpayment.  This applies to all accounts.
  • Cancellation: 30 days cancellation notice is required, in the form of email, fax or letter.

Multilink

Higher speeds can be obtained by bonding multiple links. Each additional link is billed at the normal rate less $20, and a monthly multilink fee of $25 is applied. The Internet Centre will supply a Microtik router, preconfigured, for the customer end of the connection. Cost of the router is $100, but the multilink fee includes indefinite warranty on the router.

For example, bonding 3 x 6M circuits for a total bandwidth of up to 18M down and 3M up:

  • First circuit: $75/month
  • Additional two circuits: $55/month x 2 = $110/month
  • Bonding fee: $25/month
  • Total monthly rate: $210

If there were no other suitable phone lines at the location, the additional two lines would be installed as no-dialtone circuits. There would be additional costs:

  • 2 x No-dialtone ADSL install: $205 ea, total $405 (one-time charge)
  • 2 x Rate band charge for line rental: 2 x $14 = $28/mo

Existing Customers

We are in the process of upgrading all customers whose line will support it from 3M up to 6M. Once an upgrade has been completed, customers will move to the new pricing structure. Customers wishing to upgrade to speeds higher than 6M will be charged a $30 upgrade fee. Existing Customers upgrading to the 6M service will continue to be provisioned as at present, with the IP address statically assigned and configured on their equipment. Changes to faster speeds (15Mbit and 25Mbit) will require the customer to reconfigure their equipment for a PPPoE connection.
