Windows 95/98 - Dial Up Networking Set Up

A. Setting up Internet with the "Connection Wizard" Icon
  1. Find the CONNECTION WIZARD or INTERNET CONNECTION WIZARD using one of the following:


    • a). Click START, PROGRAMS, select INTERNET EXPLORER folder, and CONNECTION WIZARD or INTERNET CONNECTION WIZARD.
    • b). Or click START, FIND, FILES or FOLDERS, type in the "Named" field "internet connection wizard", click FIND NOW, and double click on "Internet Connection Wizard".

  2. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually.." and click NEXT.
  3. Select "…phone line/modem…", and click NEXT.
  4. Enter area code, telephone number, and country code, and remove the check mark for "Dial using the area code and country code". Click NEXT.
  5. Enter Username and Password, and click NEXT.
  6. Enter Connection name (ie. Incentre), and click NEXT.


  7. "Do you want to setup an Internet mail acct now?", select Yes, and click NEXT.

  8. (Optional Note: if you do not want to setup your mail account, then select No, click NEXT, and FINISH.)

  9. Click on "Create a new Internet mail account", and click NEXT.
  10. Enter display name (ie. John Doe), and click NEXT.
  11. Enter email address (ie. johndoe@incentre.net), and click NEXT.
  12. Select Incoming Mail Server "POP3", and enter the following:
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.incentre.net
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.incentre.net
    • Click NEXT.
  13. Enter Account Name (username) and Password, and select optional "remember password" and click NEXT.
  14. To connect to the Internet immediately leave the check mark, and select FINISH.

To change the start homepage when you open your Internet Explorer browser:
  1. In Internet Explorer, click on TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS.
  2. Under 'Homepage' enter the URL address, for example http://www.incentre.net.
  3. Click APPLY and OK.

To open Internet Explorer, simply click on the big blue 'e' on your desktop. To access your emails, simply click on the 'envelop' icon (Outlook Express) with the two blue arrows.
