Windows 2000 by default enables the option "Register this connection's address in DNS". The register DNS process
sends a DNS request update to The Internet Centre's DNS server every few seconds, thereby creating enormous
unnecessary traffic and slowing other valid DNS queries. The Internet Centre's DNS server will reject all attempts by
unauthorized servers to register their own DNS. There are only two options that are available, disable the register DNS option, or else we reserve the right to block your IP address from the Internet. In essence, we would prefer that you disable the option instead. If you are running a Windows 2000 Professional or Server, please follow the instructions below to disable the register DNS option. Instructions: 1. Double-click on My Computer > Control Panel > Network and Dial-Up Connections. 2. Right-click on LAN, and select Properties. 3. Double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). 4. Click on Advanced. 5. Under the DNS tab, remove the checkmark for "Register this connection's address in DNS". 6. Click OK > OK > OK. 7. Close the Network & Dialup Connections window. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. If you have any questions regarding the above, please feel free to contact us. |
