August 16, 2002 - Network Outage - Telus OC3 Update

On Thursday, August 15, 2002 from 7:15pm to 11:30pm, a network wide outage was experienced in parts of Edmonton and the surrounding areas. The problem was traced to our upstream provider, a Telus OC3 fibre which provided internet backbone connectivity to many parts of the city.

The outage affected emails, dial-up, websites, and ADSL connections. Other problems may have included packet losses and slow connectivity. All issues as a result of the Telus equipment failure has since been resolved as of late Thursday night.
