Sept 17, 2001 - Network Status - Edmonton and Calgary Dial Up Problems

On Saturday, September 15 and 16, a software problem on the Internet access
servers in Edmonton prevented a few clients from accessing the Internet
successfully. Users were instead greeted with a busy signal, even though
the servers were not busy.

The problem resolved itself occassionally, but eventually came back. The
access servers were reset this morning, and the software problems have since
disappeared.

In an unrelated incident in Calgary last week, a different software problem
prevented a few dial-up modems from connecting successfully. Because of the
sensitive nature of dial-up modems, some manufactured brands fared better
than others. If you are experiencing problems in connecting in the Calgary
area, please let us know the make and model of your dial-up modem so that
we can investigate further.

We apologize for the inconvenience these problems may have caused. If you
have any questions or concerns, please email us at info@incentre.net.
