In the early morning hours on Thursday, August 24, The Internet Centre will be making significant changes to its service provision. At that time we will be moving back to Telus as our provider of dial-up lines in Edmonton and surrounding areas, as well as our Internet backbone. As a consequence to the service change, we will be relocating our equipment to another premise. The move will take place between 1:00am and 6:00am on Thursday morning, at which time most or all of our Internet services will be made unavailable. We will however aim to minimize the duration of the outage as much as possible. Full Internet services will be restored before business hours commence on Thursday morning. The phone numbers and server addresses will remain the same, as well as your accounts or email addresses with us. If you have any questions on the move, please send them to John.Aspden@incentre.net. If you are interested in more information, please read on: The reasons for the move are twofold. Changing to Telus as our backbone Internet service provider will make it easy for us to deploy high-speed ADSL in most parts of the city. With this change, we will be taking orders for DSL installations beginning next week. (More details on our DSL offering will follow). The second reason for the move and certainly the most important, is to resolve any residual dial-up problems that our customers might still be experiencing. After the changeover, we will only have one phone company to work with in dealing with issues and not two as at present. We will be working deligently to resolve any outstanding dial-up problems beginning next week. |
