Macintosh Internet Connection Setup

  1. Go to Apple-Menu, Control Panel, and Remote Access.
  2. Enter your Username, Password, optional Save Password, and the ISP dial-up phone number (ie. 421-4222).


  3. Macintosh Setup

  4. Click on Options to continue.

  5. Under the Redialing tab, you have the option to Redial or not.

  7. Under the Connection tab, the default setting is shown below. You have the option to select "Disconnect if idle for __ minutes".

  9. Under the Protocol tab, the default setting is shown below. You have the option to select "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications", which is quite convenient.

  11. Click OK, and Save configurations.



  12. To Create a Shortcut on your Desktop for Remote Access:

  13. Go to Mac HD, System Folder, Preferences, Remote Access.
  14. Highlight your "Remote Access" connection, click File and Make Alias.
  15. Drag the "Alias" to your desktop.



  16. To Configure the TCP/IP:

  17. Go to Apple-Menu, Control Panel, and TCP/IP.

  18. Select PPP, Using PPP Server, enter the Name Server addresses, and the Search domain.


  19. Macintosh Setup

  20. Close the window, and Save the configurations.


Optional Advanced Setup - To Configure the Macintosh Browsers and Email Client Programs
  1. Go to Apple-Menu, Control Panels, and Internet.
  2. Under the Personal tab, enter the fields as shown.

  4. Under the E-mail tab, enter the fields as shown. Choose your default email application.


  5. Macintosh Setup

  6. Under the Web tab, enter a home page, a search page, and choose your default web browser.

  8. Under the News tab, enter the News Server, and choose your default news application.

  10. Close the window, and Save the configurations.
