Linux KPPP Internet Connection Setup

  1. Go to Start-Menu, KDE, INTERNET, and KPPP.

  3. Click on Setup, to open the KPPP Configuration screen. Click on New to create account.

  5. Under the Dial tab, enter:
    • Connection Name: (ie. The Internet Centre, Cold Lake, etc).
    • ISP Phone Number: (avoid the long distance, and area code if not long distance).
    • Authentication: PAP
    • Optional Store password

  6. Under the IP tab, select "Dynamic IP Address".

  8. Under the DNS tab, enter:
    • Domain Name: incentre.net
    • DNS IP Address: (leave blank)
    • DNS Address List: 198.161.96.1 and 198.161.96.5

  9. Under the Gateway tab, select "Default Gateway" and select "Assign the Default Route...".

  11. Under the Login Script tab, leave it blank. (Only used in special situations)

  13. Under the Accounting tab, leave it default.

  15. Click OK to finish.


  16. Your new Account will be shown in the KPPP Configuration window. You can Edit an existing account, or Delete or Copy.

  18. Under the Modem tab, you can configure the modem settings. If you click on Modem Commands, you can specify modem parameters.

  20. Click OK to save modem settings.


  21. Under the PPP tab, you can specify parameters for the PPP session

  23. Click OK to save KPPP configurations.


  24. You are now ready to login. Enter your Username (Login ID) and Password, and click Connect.
