Email Delivery Troubleshooting |
Cannot Send Emails If you cannot send emails, the most likely problem is that the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) setting is incorrect. If you are using Netscape, go to EDIT, PREFERENCES, and double click on MAIL & NEWSGROUPS. Select MAIL SERVERS, and make sure the Outgoing Mail Server says "smtp.incentre.net". Click OK. Choose the location, and make sure the Outgoing Mail Server says "smtp.incentre.net". Click OK. If none of the above applies, then select the correct email program here . Follow the instructions as provided. If you are using another ISP for your Internet connection, you are required to use their Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server. Your ISP should be able to provide you with the correct Outgoin Mail Server setting. Note: you have access to the Webmail program where you can send and receive emails as well. Simply go to the website: www.incentre.net and click on EMAIL. Login using your username and password, and select the correct mail server.
Cannot Receive Emails If you cannot receive emails, the most likely problem is that the Incoming Mail Server (POP) setting is incorrect. Your correct Incoming Mail Server is supposed to be "pop.incentre.net". Also check that your Username (Account name) is correct. Please check the settings as follows, If you are using Outlook or Outlook Express, go to TOOLS, ACCOUNTS, and under the Mail tab, double click on your mail account (or click PROPERTIES). Select the SERVERS tab, and make sure the Incoming Mail Server says "pop.incentre.net". Also check that your Account Name and password is correct, by retyping them in. Click OK, OK and CLOSE. If you are using Netscape, go to EDIT, PREFERENCES, and double click on MAIL & NEWSGROUPS. Select MAIL SERVERS, and make sure the Incoming Mail Server says "pop.incentre.net". If you need to edit this, simply click EDIT, and enter the correct Server Name, and make sure the User Name is correct. Click OK, and OK. If you are using Eudora, go to TOOLS and then OPTIONS. Depending on the Eudora version, the Incoming (POP) Mail Server setting may be located in "Getting Started" or in "Checking Mail". (Note: older versions of Eudora will combine the Incoming Mail Server with the Login Name like so, "jsmith@pop.incentre.net". Simply check that the information is correct). If none of the above applies, then select the correct email program here . Follow the instructions as provided. Consult the email program's User Manual if none of the above applies. Note: you have access to the Webmail program where you can send and receive emails as well. Simply go to the website: www.incentre.net and click on EMAIL. Login using your username and password, and select the correct mail server.
Cannot Receive Emails, and using Anti-Virus Program If you use an Anti-Virus program such as Norton Antivirus or McAfee VirusScan, the Incoming Mail Server and the Account Name (User Name or Login Name) will be modified by the Anti-Virus program. The Anti-Virus program's intent is to reroute all emails to the Anti-Virus program, and then if there are no viruses, it then routes it back to the email program. On occasion the settings will become corrupt or incorrect. To correct the settings requires a bit of work and patience. You may need to consult the owner's manual for more information. But, the following is a basic approach to troubleshooting an email delivery problem when using an Anti-Virus program. 1. Go to the Anti-Virus program to disable email protection, and close the Anti-Virus program. 2. Go to the email program and insure the Incoming Mail Server (POP), and the Account Name (Login Name or User Name) is all correctly entered. Edit if necessary and click OK to save the settings, and continue to click OK if the program requires it. Close the email program. 3. Open the Anti-Virus program, and enable email protection, and choose the email clients to protect. Close the Anti-Virus program. 4. The next time you open your email program, the Anti-Virus program will have automatically reconfigured the server settings. This is all that is required, but if you still cannot receive emails, then start from #1 again. If the problem persists, consult the Anti-Virus owners manual for more information.
Cannot Send nor Receive Emails If you cannot send nor receive emails, the most likely problem is that the server settings are simply incorrect or corrupt, or that you are not fully connected to your Internet Service Provider. Check all the email settings by following both the "Cannot Send Emails" and the "Cannot Receive Emails". Test the email settings by sending an email to yourself, and after a few seconds, check your emails. If you can send, the Outgoing Mail Server is correct. If you can receive, the Incoming Mail Server is correct. If you still cannot send nor receive emails, check your Internet connection. One way is to see if you can browse the Internet. If you can browse the Internet, then your Internet connection is working. If you cannot browse the Internet, then your Internet connection is not working. If there are other computers in your location or office, test those as well. Please check all your Internet connection settings, and or consult with your company's IT department before calling us for troubleshooting. If you have checked all the above, and are still experiencing email delivery problems, then you may have to delete the email account, and rebuild it from scratch. Choose the email program, and simply follow the instructions. |
