The Internet Centre provides a secure co-location facility on the south side of Edmonton, Alberta for customers looking to physically host one or more servers directly on our BGP peered network. 24/7 access is available for all dedicated rooms, and there is easy and direct access from the nearby parking lot.

Co-locating your servers with the Internet Centre offers many advantages, especially when taking advantage of other Internet Centre services:

• Customers with an Internet Centre DSL connection can take advantage of very low round trip times between their remote location and their servers, as they are only one hop away.
• With a dedicated 100mbit fiber link to the Edmonton SuperNet MeetMe location, connectivity between your SuperNet connected site and your co-located servers is fast and reliable
• Additionally, in both such cases, your data never traverses the Internet directly, so even un-encrypted data is less exposed

There are two types of co-location services provided, shared co-location and dedicated rooms.

Shared Co-Location 

For customers that only have a small number of servers they wish to co-locate and do not require direct 24/7 physical access, shared co-location can be a more cost effective solution than renting a dedicated room. You purchase a quantity of rack space for your server and are connected to our core network in the same way that a dedicated room would be, so you have all of the same benefits. The only difference is you do not have un-escorted access to your server and must make arrangements to do so during normal business hours (8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). Each shared co-location package includes:

• One ethernet connection to the Internet Centre network
• One power plugin
• One static IP address
• 10 GB of data transfer per month

Pricing for shared co-location is based on the size of the server. A flat rate of $50 per server is charged to provide connectivity to the network, to which is added an additional fee based on the size of the server. For rack mount servers, this is based on the rack-unit size of the server, and is charged at $60 per rack unit size. In other words, a 1U server would cost a total of $110/month, while a 3U server would be $230/month. There is a one-time $100 setup fee for all shared co-lo installations.

Shared co-location for tower servers is available, but is priced based on the size of the server, generally starting at $230/month.

Dedicated Co-Location 

For those who require 24/7 physical access to their servers, who require a full rack of servers, or have other special requirements (i.e. power delivery) dedicated co-location rooms may be rented. There are two sizes of room that may be rented and they may be configured to your specifications. You will be provided with two access cards, along with personal alarm codes to gain access to the co-location facility, allowing you to have any time access.

Each dedicated co-location room includes:

• locked door (two keys provided)
• air conditioning
• light
• 7' grounded rack
• one 10/100 ethernet jack
• common work area, including computer
• free parking, with direct access from parking lot
• security system with armed response (two access cards included)
• surveillance cameras with video and keypad recorded entry

The two room sizes available are 5'x4' and 5'x6', and the pricing is as follows:

5'x4' Dedicated Co-Location Room

• 50 GB of data transfer per month
• /28 subnet (13 usable IP addresses)
• one 15-amp circuit
• one two post rack (40U) or one four post (40U) rack
