Settings  |  Troubleshooting


These instructions are for checking your Internet Centre hosted e-mail with an iPhone running 2.0 or higher firmware. Due to the insecure nature of the 3G wireless network, we highly reccomend you leave SSL enabled, which it is by default, to ensure your password stays secure. 

For incentre.net email accounts, you'll need these settings:

  • account type - POP3
  • incoming mail server - pop.incentre.net
  • outgoing mail server - smtp.incentre.net
  • username - (your full email address)
  • incoming mail port - 995
  • outgoing mail port - 2525

For email accounts using other domain names, like yourcompany.com or ccinet.ab.ca, the settings will vary depending on your domain.

NOTE - the info below uses yourcompany.com as an example domain.  Substitute your actual domain name (jetnet.ab.ca, business.ca, whatever it may be) wherever you see yourcompany.com below.

  • account type - POP3
  • incoming mail server - pop.yourcompany.com
  • outgoing mail server - smtp.yourcompany.com
  • username - (your full email address)
  • incoming mail port - 995
  • outgoing mail port - 2525

You can easily build a new account to check your email address:

  1. Choose Settings from the main menu, and then select Mail, Contacts, Celanders
  2. Press Add account...
  3. Select 'Other'
  4. Enter your name, e-mail address, and password
  5. Press Save in the upper right corner
  6. Change the selector at the top to POP 
  7.  Enter all settings for your account per above for both the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server sections, putting in your e-mail address for the User Name in both cases
  8.  Save the account
  9. At the main Accounts menu, select your account and scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server section
  10. Select your outging server, and at the next menu select it again below where it says primary server
  11. Make sure that 'Use SSL' is On, Authentication is set to 'Password' and that the Server Port is specified as 2525
  12. Push the SMTP button in the upper left to return to the previous menu, and then hit the arrow containing your email address in the upper left to return to your account page
  13. Select the Advanced Button
  14. Scroll down to the Incoming Settings section and make sure that 'Use SSL' is On, Authentication is set to 'Password' and that the Server Port is set to 995
  15. Push the button in the upper left containing your e-mail address, and then the button in the upper left that says Mail to return to the accounts page. You may then press the home button to return to the main menu

To troubleshoot, use these steps:

  1. Choose Settings from the main menu, and then select Mail, Contacts, Celanders
  2. Select the account from the list under the Accounts header
  3. Compare your settings to the examples given above.  Note that there are additional settings under both the SMTP and Advanced buttons
